Module 5 · The Rescue

Troubleshooting Like a Pro

Things go sideways. The best grillers don't panic — they know exactly what to do. Let's make sure you do too.

Real Talk

Something will go wrong. Here's what to do.

Every grill master — even the pros — has had a burger catch fire, a chicken come out dry, or a steak that just wouldn't cook through. The difference between a beginner and a confident griller isn't perfection. It's knowing how to fix it fast.

Common Problems

Tap a problem to see the fix

🔥 Food is burning on the outside but raw inside
💀 My food came out dry and tough
🐌 Food is cooking way too slowly
💥 Flare-ups! Flames are jumping up at the food
😶‍🌫️ My grill is producing too much smoke

🎯 Scenario Challenge

You're cooking chicken breasts on a medium-hot grill. After 5 minutes, you notice the edges are dark but you know the center is still raw — your thermometer reads 120°F. What do you do first?

Your Griller's Checklist

Always end with a clean grill

After cooking, while the grill is still hot, use your Coalridge cleaning brush to scrub the grate clean. Burnt-on residue comes off easy when hot. Let the coals cool completely before closing the vents fully — and never store with warm coals.
